Falcons Handle Ryan 70-35

Posted: Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 05:36

Archbishop Ryan visited the Pit on Monday night and found the Falcons ready to play.  North outscored Ryan in each of the four quarters and after taking a 54-22 lead after three quarters, coasted through the final frame.  There were only 9 Falcons suited for this game, and all 9 players got double digit minutes.  Jaleel Mack led the scoring with 18 points (8-10 from the field), followed by Mike Terry, with 16 point (7 rebounds).  Bob Makor had 10 points and 5 rebounds in only 15 minutes.  Alex Amrhein scored 7 points and pulled down a season high 11 rebounds.  Overall, the Falcons shot 50% from the field, and 36% (4-11) from beyond the arc.  Additional work at the line is still needed, as the Falcons shot only 44% (8-18) from the charity stripe.  This is the second straight league win for the Falcons (beat Judge 81-64 on Friday).  Next up, the Falcons will travel to Drexel Hill Friday night to take on Monsignor Bonner.

Falcons Lose at buzzer to Mansion 78-77

Posted: Monday, January 04, 2010 at 06:22

The Falcons got off to a good start, taking the early lead, before falling behind for much of the second and third periods.  But, in the fourth quarter, the Falcons rallied from a double digit deficit to take the lead in the last 10 seconds of the game.  Most of this come from behind effort was due to the hard work of Mike Terry (27 points), Jaleel Mack (22 points), Woody Redding (13 points, 8 assists), David Williams (7 points, 3 steals) and Alex Amrhein (6 rebounds).  But, missed free throws (19 for 31 from the line) throughout the game sealed the Falcons fate.  With 3.9 seconds remaining, the Falcons missed two critical foul shots, which would have sealed the deal.  This gave Mansion one last shot.  The inbound pass was taken by Devonte Newbill (30 points), who took a couple of steps before popping up to nail a 3 pointer as time expired.  The Falcons will try to shake off this tough loss when they travel to St Joseph Prep on Tuesday for their second league game of the year.
